Georgann Norton, Psy.D. – Licensed Psychologist
Marco Island and Naples
Helping you cope with depression, anxiety, life transitions, loneliness and self-esteem issues.
There are times in all of our lives when we find it difficult to handle situations by ourselves. Sometimes we just cannot seem to find the right answers. Or perhaps even ask the right questions. This is where I come in. I can help.
Did you ever wish you could have a psychologist come right into your home and have your session while you were curled up on the couch with your cup of coffee? Today, this is absolutely possible! In the convenience and safety of your own surroundings, we can talk through any issues you may want to address. And you never have to leave your couch.
How will you tell if therapy is working for you? The changes will happen over time, subtly. You will notice that you want to go out with friends again. You will find yourself laughing with them just like you use to. You will be smiling more, sleeping better and worrying less.
Do you notice your self esteem dips during difficult experiences in your life?
It happens to all of us when we go through challenging transitions such as job losses, divorce, loss of our spouses. We begin to doubt ourselves, even in tasks or situations which we were previously confident in accomplishing.
Does experience matter? I believe it does and my 25 years as a Licensed Psychologist in various medical, business and private practice will add to the skill and perspective that I bring to the table when we talk about your challenges in all areas of your life.
I have been a Licensed Psychologist for 25 years and have been in my own private practice in both Florida and Illinois. Previously in Chicago, I worked as a member of the Advocate Christ Hospital medical staff and as a Licensed Psychologist. It’s also where I did both my doctoral internship and residency.
How can I help you?
You may have experienced these symptoms in the recent past or feel some of these symptoms currently: depressed mood during most of each day, lack of interest in pleasurable activities, significant weight gain or loss, trouble sleeping or sleeping too much, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or even thoughts of death.
If you recognize any of the symptoms in yourself and want to make changes to live a happier life, I am here to help. In a safe and comfortable environment, together we will explore these issues. By looking at your beliefs and the paths that you are taking we will begin to see what changes you can make to move your life in a new and more satisfying direction.
Perhaps anxiety has taken control of your life including a sense of being overwhelmed, racing thoughts in your head and moments of extreme panic. Anxiety can also take the form of social anxiety, phobias, panic attacks and agoraphobia.
Generalized anxiety is the most common. Do you worry excessively, feel keyed up or on edge, experience fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, muscle tensions? You and I can work together to reduce and alleviate these symptoms.
Get your cup of coffee; its time for you and I to talk.
